My World Info

Turbo

I asctully had a fair amount to discuss, but surprise surprise, I am lazy andnot interested in blogging hard.

Let's run through this in turbo.

I missed South Park last night and will watch it soon.

I wqent to taht show last night and it was awesome.  Oh, to be young again.  My entire body hurts, im exhausted and dehydrated.  My ears are ringing, my voice is hoarse, and I have a huge lump on my left elbow.  Bu it was great.  My clothes are probably still soaked with sweat at home.  But I will tell you what - it was awesome.

I left the scene though becuase everyone became to pretentious.  Everyone always had to out-scene each other.  Guess what?  This show had a bunch of those types and now I remember - this is why I never did it.

Phillies won the World Series.  Dammit.

I am so bad at Streak for the Cash on ESPN.com.  You have to pick 25 games n a row and you win a million dollars.  Sounds easy right?  Not so much.  My longest streak has been 6, and I would say that I know sports fairly well.

I am still unpacking from my move.  Not so cool.  I've been in my place for literally 15 minutes in 4 days.

Had McDonalds for breakfast today.  Treated my dehydration and exhaustation with a nice mcgriddle.  It was excellent.

The Office is on tonight.

I have to seriously seriously scrub my old apartment tonight to make sure I get my security deposit back.

ok time to jet and do some work - bye kiddies!

Also - likely no blog tomorrow, but I promise pictures (ok, at least one) from halloween will go up after the weekend.

Enjoy some Bouncing Souls while we rock!

Tuesday + Wednesday

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday due to a Comcast-shortened day.  It happens.

Let's jump right into things.  I'm tired and not terribly motivated to blog hard today.   But I am loyal to my readers.

Bud Selig did the only thing he could do in that game.  And Carlos Pena literally saved baseball by hitting that RBI single.  If that game goe sinto the delay with the Phillies leading, and it's called...we have a major problem.  I applaud Bud Selig, even if you always look and talk like you are drunk.

Did we just skip fall here?  It went from temps in the high 70s to low 50s literally overnight.  What happened to the in-between numbers?

Going to my first show in about 2 years tonight - Bouncing Souls and Strike Anywhere.  Yea, I am excited.  I't sbeen a long time coming.

I haven't done trivia in like a year+.  Bad.

The Colts suck.  What happened?

Won both my fantasy leagues again.   Third in one league and first in the other.  In the league that I am in first in I won my match-up this week by 65+ points, the second week in a row I have dne so.  On top of that, my only loss was by 1 point in Week 1.  I am so dominant it isn't even funny.  Except I face Kevin in League A tonight - the undefeated and unchallenged leaders.  and Steve Smith is on bye.  uh oh.

I tried to watch Scream last night, one of my absolute favorites movies and something of a Halloween tradition for me - and my mom called about 3/4 of the way through it and I couldn't hear the ending.  Very upsetting.

I hate hate hate Comcast.  They show up yesterday to install internet and cable... and instead show up attempting to set up HD cable (we have no HD TVs) and no internet.  Whatever.  It takes them way too long, but they finally get it moving and.... no wireless.  Meaning we are currently only capable of running the Internet on 1 computer.  And genius that he was, the comcast guy had to write down our email account with comcast.  I guess he didn't have a paper, so he just wrote on whatever was in front of him - oh, hey, it was my credit card bill.  Oops?  oh well.  This is the nature of comcast.  So then we try to plug our other wireless router from our old place into the new modem, and I don't know what happened, but the Internet isnt working at all anymore.  I was tired, sore, and angry last night.  Bad combo.

oh, and now factor in that our $20 uhaul somehow came out to be $90.  What the hell?  This move seriously went terribly, especially considering that we arent even completely moved out yet and still have to clean the place really hard.  Ugh.

You know what's the saving grace of all the frustrating stuff going on right now?  This:

 Punk Effing Rock.

The Wrap

I am lazy and tired and it is gloomy out.  Not a good combo for blogging.  Whatever, let's get this ball rolling nonetheless.

So Navy won a game this weekend, scoring 33 points, and not attempting one single forward pass.  Impressive.

NFL Rebound on the speed.  GIants win, Cowboys win but still suck, everyone in the NFC South is terrible.  Bills aren't that good.  The whole AFC West is garbage.  The NFC West is garbage.  And we're looking at a Giants-Steelers Super Bowl.  How's that for analysis?

Won one of my fantasy leagues by like 50 points.  Am up by 11 in my other league where the other guy has Adam Viniateri and Reggie Wayne set to go.  Looks like that one will be a loss.

Rays are down 3-1 and that doesn't look good.  Vs. Cole Hamels tonight - I am not thrilled.  The Rays had to win games 3 and 4 vs. Jamie Moyer and Joe Blanton and did neither.  There were some really bad calls (that everyone is talking about) against the Rays, bu you can't blame that for losses.

Moved out of my current apartment this weekend.  It was brutal.  We had a lot mroe stuff than we anticipated, it was pouring rain and every inch of my body now hurts.  Much thanks for Frank, Alison and Katie for not only helping, but also helping keep us sane.  I have been known to sometimes flip out when things don't work the way they're supposed to (like when you put a pair of headphones in your pocket and they somehow end up in 10000 intricate knots despite the physical impossibility), and they helped calm the situation.  I very much appreciate it.

There's no cable or internet in the new place yet, though, and I'm not sure if you have tried to live without cable or internet.  It is not easy.  Let me tell you.  Especially on NFL Sundays or when the World Series is on.  Comcast comes tomorrow, though, so this situation should be rectified.

I have a thing for collecting campaign materials.  I have a Bush/Cheney 04 shirt and a bunch of Romney for President stuff.  And it is cheating to go out and just buy things after the fact.  I have to go out and get Obama and McCain shirts ASAP.

I'm not sure there is much funnier than a man getting his arm stuck in a train toilet.

This is seriously the combination of 2 episodes of Seinfeld.

Bad news Andy - they have identified the transsexual gene.  Is it time for your coming out party?

Our new place has a really terrible shower-head and it bothers me.

And now?  3 vids from an event I attended up 10 years ago.  Best.  Raw.  Ever.  And a quick note on the third video - since I was in about 8th grade when this happened, one of my friends' dads took us to the event.  He later represented the frat in court becuase they absolutely destroyed the house.  WWF had permission to have stuff go on there, but not to the degree that they did.  The frat won, by the way.

Tis Friday

Which means that my general effort level is sub-par.  This blog is in that same boat.  So enjoy it while you can.

We're moving tomorrow and it is a lot of work.  Still working on it.  It has consumed 3 eevenigns nows and will consume tonight as well.

I am currently watching a wrestling match between a Robot and a Robot Mummy.  With Japanese announcing.  Classy, right?

A whole bunch of links today, then the Office review from last night:

Farting legitimately has something to do with your blood pressure.

I am sure that a lot of stoners will bite the dust over this - new wave where old police dogs are hired by parents to look for drugs in their teenagers' bedrooms.

There was recently a Palin look-alike contest.... for strippers.

Today is the 11th anniversary of Marv Albert's sentencing for biting a woman.   Weird.

Just becuase I thought it was amusing - the first ever McDonald's commercial.

Ok - let's run a review of the Office.  Not the most ground-breaking episod,e but it was solid.  No Jan, which made things better.  Michael was a bumbling fool, but in the appropriate way and not the totally-insane way.  I am really starting to like the Holly character, which is good becuase there really aren't many full-on likable characters left on the show - right now, it's really just Jim.  They are also building Phyllis into a regular, likeable character and that is a good idea - same premise as with Holly - they need more likable characters.  Loved to see the return of Roy - I just like references to past episodes I guess.  It dragged on a bit with the auction, but I think that was the point.  The Dwight stuff was a little bit strange but it fit the character.  The robbery almost seemed like a Family Guy storyline - only in there to set up the rest of the plot and quckly forgotten.  The Jim/Pam stuff has jumped the shark for now - its all the same since she went to NY.  Thee were some funny parts, and the bit-players didn't do as much as they should have, with Creed being the exception.  He is pure gold.  Anywyas, I like the direction of the show right now, and I feel like this is a transition season.  Not much has happened outside of Michael and Holly dating, but that might be ok.  They tried to do TOO much in the last half-season and shot themselves in the foot by rushing things.  Anyways, good episode, not great, but good.

Ok, and this Robot vs. Mummy match is too good to ignore.  Start it up around 3:20.

Hulk Hogan a Republican?

Just a quick South Park review.  Not to give up too much, but this was hilarious.  great episode, stupid but still poignant.  I like the use of Craig, and I loved the line "you know why nobody likes you guys at school?  becuase you always have these great ideas and then you end up in another country or outer space or something."  Classic.  The mocking of the liberals is always solid - "oh, it's so cultural" - and I love how it had a cliff-hanger, but is not to be continued.  It just kind of ended.  So stupid it's funny.  Good episode and not too too political.  Oh, and there is totally a Peruvian Panflute band that plays at the Rosslyn Metro Station.  And also loved the reference to the last episode - "i cant go to peru, my god friend was raped there..."  All around a very solid episode.

Nothing else really happened today or yseterday since blogging.  Phils won Game 1 which they should win since Hamels is the best pitcher in the series.  Rays take the next 3.  Packing to move.  O'Reilly was hilarious on the view yesterday if you get a chance to watch it.  And now, Hogan videos for the rest of the post.
Yes, Hogan endorsed Obama a few months ago, but give this interview a listen and tell me he isn't a Republican...

Hulk Hogan gives driving tips?

And this is a challenge - who's most insane in this group?

Wednesdays are no fun

I want this week to be over, plain and simple.  I haven't had a chance to even catch my breath this week - left for Albany Fri night, got back late on Sun, went to work, then had a bunch of apartment signing stuff, immediately followed by chili at Franks.  All were good times, but I haven't been home for more than a stretch of an hour (other than sleep) since Thursday.  Last night was no different - come home from work, go to Giant, head out to dinner for a London reunion...

If you're reading this blog, you probably know that I spent a semester in London back in 2006.  Most people study abroad - but not our program.  The 7 of us were in a program where we worked full time with a member of the British Parliament.  It was an excellent experience and something that truly is once-in-a-lifetime.  Last night we decided to get back together for a dinner at a new British restaurant in Columbia Heights - Commonwealth.  It is described as a "gastropub"  - a word that makes my blood boil.  Not to go off on too bad of a tangent, this is one of those "hip" words that makes me mad.  The concept is that London (and most of the UK) is covered in pubs - local bars that serve standard British food.  Nothing wrong with that.  Then this wave started where places wanted to still have the traditional pub feel but actually served good food and be swankier.  Thats the gastropub.  In the US, though, the concept was completely backwards...

Commonwealth was a modern looking, hip restaurant that served traditional British food.  Technically not the classic UK definition of the gastropub, but whatever.  The place had a very industrial feel to it and was a little bit cramped, but overall was a really nice place.  IOt was also located 2 feet off the metro, which makes everyone's lives easier.  Anyways, back to business.  They had a killer beer and wine menu, just like you would see in the UK.  I went with a british beer- well's bombadier.  Others with me went with Strongbow cider (a favorite for the poor british university student), Tetleys (a light UK stout), a Newcastle (commercial but still delicious) and .... I can't remmeber what the last beer was.  All were very solid.  They also pride themselves in having what are called cask ales - the old-school style keg that has to be hand-pumped.  The beers are much more "British" - served a bit warmer, a little bit more flat, and a whole lot more bitter.  For food, I had the traditional bangers and mash - sausage on a bed of mash potatos covered in onion gravy.  It was great.  Very very classic - good sausage, nicely cooked without a stress on presentation.  Just delicious, starchy, salty, and most of all - British.

Three of the other people with me had the fish and chips - a good British staple that was very good (from what I ate).  Everything was fresh and crispy and the homemade tarter sauce was especially tasty.  The 5th member of our party had a cheese platter and prawns... which kind of surprised everyone when they came - the whole things - stuffed in a pint glass.  Like, 20 of them.  Heads, tentacles, etc sticking out of the glass.  They were a lot of work, but were said to be quite tasty.

Billing was very competitive - about $30 for dinner and a nice large beer including tax and tip.  Definitely recommended, especially for the beer menu.

In other news...

Obesity can be influenced by the speed at which you eat

A pumpkin burger?  looks good to me.

This looks awesome as well - a donut burger.

And also because I am a nerd, I found this interesting - a story about the origins of some of our favorite food staples.  History and food...together?  Count me in.

And now a couple videos to send us out for the day:

Just a handful of stuff

Really not a whole lot to talk about.

First, signed the new lease on the new apartment yesterday.  Very excited.  Move in Saturday.

Later on last night, went to Franks and had some chili for the Broncos on MNF.  It's a tradition, and it was delicious.

Fought with Rockport yesterday over my defective shoes.  The guy says I can replace them.  I'm livid - I don't want to pay for a new pair of shoes when the $100 pair lasted 3 months!  Then he corrects himself - THEY will replace them.  Now we're talkin.  I am quite confident that it is the way I walk that wears these bad boys down to nothing, but at least it will buy me another few months on a free pair of shoes.  I can deal with 6 months out of a pair of shoes that I wear every day.  Then, it's onto shoes iwth a harder sole.

Speaking of MNF, the Pats whipped the Broncos last night.  But are they really that good?  I say no.  The Broncos have a swiss-cheese defense.  Sammy Morris ran for a career high 138 yards IN THE FIRST HALF.  Do you think that the RB will run for a career high for a game in the first half every week?  Or that Matt Cassel can pick apart a D that easily?  On top of that, Maroney and Brady are done for the year, Morris got hurt and Rodney Harrison might be done for his career.  That does not bode well.  Additionally, the O-line was awful.  AWFUL.  Cassel got sacked probably....280 times last night, give or take a few.  This game was just the perfect storm of terribleness for the Broncos - Cutler gets hurt on the first play, they're turning the ball over right and left and cant seem to stop anyone.  Pats - not that good, but who challenges them i nthe AFC?  Titans, Bills, Chargers?  Colts?  That might be it.

I won both of my fantasy leagues this week.  I am 4-3 in one league and 3rd in scoring.  In the other league I am in first place with a 6-1 record and a total domination of the guy who had been in first by dropping 185 points on him.  Yea, those are stupid good numbers.

One of my fav bloggers here at TH recently posted his top 5 halloween movies and it got me thinking - what are mine?  Scream is definitely my number 1.  Revolutionary.  I think no list is complete without a Freddy Kruger film, and it has to be the first one since the others don't exist without this ground work.  Jason movies - same deal, but it has to be the second one, since thats the first appearance of Jason as the killer (Mrs. Voorhees was the killer in the first one).  Hellraiser, Freddy vs. Jason, Hostel, etc are all honorable mention (dishonorable?  none of them were THAT good).  Child's Play was a comedy.  There are just so many bad horror movies out there.  I would also have to say Jason X and See No Evil (with KANE) round out my top 5.  Just on sheer stupidity.  I have to admit - The Ring scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it.  Why?  No idea, but there were certain parts that were just intense.  UIntil they had Brian Cox (the dad) as a prominent role, and he will never be anything other than the Chief of the Highway Patrol in Super Troopers.  "Dammit Farva!"

Courtesy of Tara - this one is hilarious.  Fainting goats?  Laugh-out-loud funny.

Not to get too political, but isn't it typical that Obama would somehow commit to cheering for both teams in the World Series?  I am the biggest Rays fan there is for the next 2 weeks.

And since AC/DC just came out with a new CD today, it is only appropriate...

Today is Monday

Earlyish posting becuase we have a staff meeting during normal blogging hours.

Quick hits:

The Cowboys showed their true colors - they aren't any good.  The Browns arent that bad, the Giants are the best team in football, the Colts are mysteriously terrible, the Redskins are mediocre and the Super Bowl will be won by the Giants.

Rays vs. Phils in the world series.  You know, i look forward to it.  At the very least, it will (should) be a competitive series.  After 4 years in a row of sweeps, I can use a little action.  Anywyas, quick breakdown.

Hamels is probably the best pitcher.  Then Shields, Kazmir, Garza.  Then Myers, then Sonnanstine, then Moyer and Blanton.  That's a big-time advantage for the Rays.  Lineups?  I like ...

Catcher - Navarro over either guy on the Phils
First Base - Howard over Pena
2B - Utley over Iwamura
SS - Rollins over Bartlett
3B- Longoria better than Feliz
OF - Crawford, Upton, Baldelli is far superior to Burrell, Victorino, Werth.

Bullpen?  I think the Rays are deeper but the Phils have abetter back-end.  If they can hand the ball to Madsen and Lidge, they have the advantage.  If the starters get knocked out before the 7th, I like the Rays.

Defensively, the Rays are absurdly good.

Overall?  Advantage: Rays.  That layoff will be killer for the Phils.  Rays in 6.

Weekend wrap in high speed: flew home Friday night on a delayed plane - got in around 11:30pm.  Went to sleep.  Woke up, got ready, went to the wedding at 2.  Cocktail hour following that.  Then the reception up about 20 miles away at 6:30.  Party until about 1.  Exhausted.  Run around in circles doing household stuff for Sunday, then catch flight at 4:10.   Arrive back in DC at 7:30 or so.  Watch Rays game and don't get to bed until midnight.  Oof.

Signing paperwork for the new apartment tonight!

Note to all potential criminals: never film a crime and put it on YouTube.

This is probably the most entertaining thing I have seen in months.  Welcome back Terry Tate.

This is my home newspaper and my home turf of Albany.  This is painful.  Mostly becuase it looks like a skinhead gay-bashing.

(I am scrapping the Halloween countdown.  I am unmotivated.   Sorry.)

And finally, the Palin on SNL videos.

I hate Kevin

My side of the office always eats lunch together, and stupid Kevin doesn't come in until 10.  So by 1, he isn't hungry.  I'm here at 7:30, so by 1, I could literally start gnawing on my desk.  It's not 1:00 and we haven't eaten yet.  We don't even have a plan yet!  I am seriously going to die over here.

I sent n my absentee ballot today for NY.  However, since I am living in DC, i made a point to only vote for the elections which will matter to me - the Presidential election.  Who am I to vote on the local elections when I don't even live there anymore?  On top of that, I am not informed enough to make a good decision on these candidates, so I went without voting.  Oh well.

I might get my hair styled like this.

I have listened to the song Be Good to Yourself by Journey about 15 times today.

That Rays-Sox game from last night was legendary, even if I went to bed whe it was 7-0 Rays.  Oops.

Deep Fried Coke?  Is this too much?  The answer is no - deep fried anything is always good.

Going home for the weekend for a wedding.

I AM going to a wedding this weekend.  It's only appropriate...

The Office last night?  Solid.  Not the funniest episode I have ever seen but not the worst,.  They worked some storylines and planted seeds for others.  I really, really hate Jan.  And not in a good way.  Like, i almost turned the episode off becuase of her.  However, it led to a nice bit of character development (and realism!) for Michael, which is always a good thing.  Stanley and Creed are awesome complementary characters, still.

 Facebook is now officially dangerous.

The Saturday Night Live Thursday Weekend Update or whatever it's called was really not any good last night.  I was very disapponited after lat week was so funny.

And we continue the Halloween countdown with some holiday-themed advertising....

Thursday Morning it is

Where to begin where to begin...

A legal case against God was dismissed yesterday.  Seriously, who comes up with this stuff?

Natural History Museum has a new exhibit open about the under-the-sea stuff.  Sounds good to me.

I also have to get back up to the Baltimore Aquarium.  The day I was supposed to go I  got real sick and didn't make it.

Speaking of museums, the American History Museum is opening back up soon and I am pumped - this is far and away the best of the Smithsonians.

I know this is probably against how most of my like-minded GOPers think, but today marks the anniversary of when the UK banned handguns.  This isn't about gun control or this or that, it;s about British government efficiency.  There's a massive shooting?  They ban guns.  Knives had become the weapon du-jour by the time I was there (2006), so what did they do?  Banned knives.  If only the US government could figure out how to do anything.

I haven't eaten French Fries in ages.

I need to start a new grocery list.  Last time I went the calendar read August.

The debate was funlast night and I think the good guys won.  But that's neither here nor there.  This is the lasting image of the debate:

US Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain (R-AZ) ...

How about a quick South Park review too?  Anyways, it was pretty funny last night.  It wasn't the strongest episode or the worst - it was just com, pletly apolitical.  I think they are gearing up for another Giant D ouche vs. Turd Sandwich episode - which, byt the way, may have been the best episode they've ever done.  At the very least, it's right up ther with Jesus and Santa in Iraq, the 9/11 episode, the Easter episode, etc.Regarldess, the preimse of this one was that Cartman thinks breast cancer is funny, Wendy threatens to beat him up, and he tries the whole episode to find a way out of getting beat up. A fun premise - brings them back to being little kids.  Solid episode - not great, not bad.

And let's continue that Halloween countdown, shall we?  Best/worst movie ever made.

Timing this post again...

I liked the way it worked out last time, so let's do it again, shall we?  Ready.  Set.  Blog.

Hillary acknowledged yesterday that she wouldn;t be running again.  Whatever.

I think I am going to start posting Halloween video countdowns like I did for Journey.  I had a good time with that and can def squeeze Halloween themed stuff out this time of year - horror movie trailers, Halloween themed events, commercials, etc.  Should be good.

I bought a new pair of dress shoes in July and they are already so worn down that they hurt my ankle.  I am going to give hell to Rockport Shoes once I finish blogging.

Rays are up 3-1 in the series and I am happy with that.  This team is very likable.

Today is UN Hand-Washing Day.  Seriously, someone wasted their time declaring that?

This is why drinking on a flight is a bad idea.

This Day in History... the worst driver ever was arrested?  Who cares, right?  I just thought the headline was funny.

Carville sent me this link for a preview of tonight's debate - total classic.

New South Park tonight and baseball playoffs.

Also, we have an official move-in day of October 25.  Who's got two thumbs and is way excited?  (This guy).

I watched a whole bunch of The Onion videos today and thought they were hilarious.  Here are my 2 favorites:

I hate it when my keyboard decides that some keys it just doesn't like.

Also, my computer at home is such a pile of junk it's laughable.  It took 14 minutes to load Facebook last night before I said forget it and just shut it down rather than waiting.

I am calling it quits on the clock becuae I have to find a Halloween video.  See you tomorrow.

As of this second:  5:39.  Not bad eh?

let's start this countdown off with the original...(my god have things changed since 1978)

A nice, light Tuesday

Or is it just that I still haven't eaten lunch because of stupid kevin.  Oh well.

Joe Torre is an idiot.  He was a terrible manager in-game with the Yankees and is a terrible in-game manager with the Dodgers.  He single-handedly lost last night's game for his team.  Why are oyu taking out your ace, Derek Lowe, after a mere 5 IP and 74 pitches to bring in a bullpen?  I don't care how good your bullpen is - they are middle relief for a reason.  THis was the Mets problem all along - why take out a cruising starter for a guy who is proven to be awful?  Hmm... Derek Lowe or Chan Ho Park and Clayton Kershaw?  Torre takes the latter, Phils take the lead.  Retard.

Supposedly Spike from Top Chef's place was closed due to health code violations, like with rats and stuff.  I haven't seen anything toback it up yety, but that's what someone told me.

Went to the Capitals game last night and it was really good.  Caps won 5-1, we saw some good action, and the seats were in a luxury box courtesy of Justin Molineaux.  Lots of fun - I really need to get more into hockey.

I never got aorund to reviewing the Office from last week.  Very very solid episode.  IN the office, good humor.  They've pulled back Michael and Dwight from being unbelievably out-of-control wacky characters and made them the goofy but somewhat exaggerated characters.  When Dwight was the focus of the episodes like in the beet farm with the brother in the cage?  Too weird.  Having him just be the really weird dude in the office?  Much more believable.  As I wrote last week, Holly is a good addition.  I literally laughed out loud when Jim was timing all of Dwight's non-work activities.  Battlestar Gallactica?  Awesome.  They have some good tension, some good stroylines that are both carrying the episodes but not becoming the sole point of the episode - Dwight/Angela, Jim/Pam, Holly/Michael, Angela/Andy are all playing off each other.  Well done.  Last season it would have just been one of these storylines at a time.  They're doing a nice job so far.

I never did a South Park review either.  But it was out of control funny.  The Chinese invading and the rape of a friend - hilarious.  They sound like hilarious topics right?  Sometimes it crossed the line with the Lucas/Spielberg stuff, but overall, thumbs up.  On the right track for the new season.

Giants got whipped last night and I am not happy.

I used to have all of these (well, almost) on my block when I was a kid.  There was totally the orthodontist who gave out toothbrushes, the old people whjo just did strange things (cheese doodles?  is this a joke?) and the rich people who gave out the full-sized bars.  We also had the over-the-top decorated house whre the mother would dress as a witch and literally scare the crap out of the kids (seriously, smelled terrible around the house).  Others had the "dummy" on the front lawn which was a real person - again, doodoo everywhere.  (Too immature?  nah).  And finally, remember the stupid people who would just leave a basket that said "please take 1"?  Yea that lasted all of 15 seconds.  Speaking of Halloween, I wonder how they do it in the ghettos where I live now.  Do people go door-to-door within he apartment building?  Do the kids ahve their parents take them around?  Do the Dads bringing the kids around bring a wagon full of beers (ok maybe just my neighborhood)?  Whatever, I won't be home.

A friend jus sent this one in - Obama locks up tht key guitar-hero demographic.

And finally, obviously I am not supposed to be overly political on this blog.  That's fne, but this was too good to pass up (credit: WAMK)

Monday

Seriously nothing to talk about today.

Someone just sent me one of the funniest things I have ever seen - http://web1.hannity.com/hannidate - HANNIDATE

The cornerstone of the WHite HOuse was laid today.  To celebrate, I might swing by later.

Going to the Capitals game tonight.  I've decided that I really need to root for some DC teams (and obviously my allegiances to the Giants and Mets are already taken) - so I decided the Capitals and Wizards will now be "my teams."  I know this violates all kinds of rules of being a fan, but whatever, I think I can legally make the switch.

We were outside for a long time on Saturday and I am literally covered in mosquito bites.  Not cool.

I am working on Columbus Day.  Also, not cool.

Going home this weekend tohugh for a wedding - fairly excited about that.

Just got my hands on the new Rise Against and new Alkaline Trio cds courtesy of KG.

And I'm not quite sure if this is the greatest thign in history, or death on a plate.  or both.

Remember how last week I thought I had lost one of my posts?  Yea, posted it on the official TH Community blog instead.  Oops.

And to close out the theme of Rise Against, how about some good left-wing propaganda?

Arrrg.

You know, I had a post written, hit "post" and.... nothing.  Wonderful.

Let's try this again then.

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while.  Things have been hectic and I am not happy.  This really makes me mad.

I'm just going to speed through this becuase I am very unhappy.

Despite only living 5 years in the 80s (1983-1988) I have an affinity to all things 1980s - including foods.

I have a thing for Halloween.  I enjoy it.  Many of my female friends, though, not so much.  Every girls costume has to be sexy something - sexy rabbitt, sexy nun, sexy tinkerbell, sexy mustard, etc.  The joke is in Mean Girls (awesome movie btw) that every girl has to just "know" this, and Lindsay Lohan shows up in a zombie costume.  Anyways, yea, some friends have now made a push to be as unsexy as possible - be the fully clothed eskimo, the pregnant girl, etc.  here are some other unsexy (but delicious) ideas.

Speaking of Halloween, it really is a lot easier for guys.  There are no expectations.  It's just kind of grab whatever you have in the closet and throw it together.  In recent years, I have been a pirate (yes, I have it lying around), a pizza delivery guy, a wrestler, etc.  Nothing ground-breaking.  THis year, though, I athink I am going to go as Hulk Hogan.  WHy?  Becuase half (ok all) the fun for me is in taking on the persona and getting into character.  And it will give me an excuse to memorize things like this, even if it will be absolutely terrible for my throat.

There can be no argument - this is awesome.  $14 investment.  I think it's worth it.

The Mets aren't on, and I am lost without them.

And finally, a quick funny video about the financial crisis from SNL (embed disabled)

Fast stuff

As usual, swamped with work.  This is goingto be the running trend for a while - probably up through the election, so posts will be sporadic.

quick notes from the weekend.

Friday - didn't spend any money.

Saturday - found a new apartment, bought a new suit, went to the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival.  Went out with some friends at night.

Sunday - church, grocery shopping, NFL, 100th Anniversary of Union Station, then the Jazz festival again.  Made some lunches, some dinners, etc.  Good to go.

Family Guy is completely done.  Watched it last night?  Not funny at all.  Like, maybe one laugh.  THis show has succombed to the ego of its creator - every single episode has Bush jokes, a repetitive joke that goes on way too long, a song and dance sequence, and many have the chicken fight.  Congratulations - you have become what South Park called you out on even before it got to that point.

The Giants are awesome.

It annoys me when people have the same away message up for a really long time - days, weeks, months, etc.

I would totally make a bacon tiara.

Sage Rosenfels in the play of the week / season.  He gets ROCKED.  Dude, you are no John Elway.
